Not only does the Institute look at sport as art, it sometimes analyzes art as sport. Every so often the Institute will be asked to send sport commentators out to m.c. art events, and we are happy to oblige. We see art as an equally competitive endeavor, with rules, arenas, players, teams, and any other marginally relevant metaphor that would link the two. By far our most notorious engagement was getting to m.c. the Flux Olympiad at the Tate Modern in 2008, where for three days we filled the Turbine Hall with the sounds of our bad puns and mildly entertaining sports babble. Other events include the Korean Lazer Ball spectacular at the Interesting Games Festival in Bristol, and a recurring role as announcer with the Estonian collective Art Container. If you are interested in having a sports announcer at your next art event please get in touch with us!
