Game Type:

Sport

Players:

2-4

Field:

Lawn

Equipment needed:

8 basketballs of two different colors, a length of rope about 10 feet long, Berets (optional)

Time:

10-20 min

Setup:

Paint 4 pairs of basketballs four different colors. Spray paint is the easiest way to paint them; they need to dry for a day before playing.

If this is not possible try to make pairs of basketballs that have distinguishable differences from the others.

Tie the rope into a circle of approximately four feet in diameter. The diameter can be varied- for easier, quicker games make the diameter larger, for more challenging games make it smaller.

Rules:

The first player tosses the rope circle on the ground and determines the distance from which to throw the ball from. They walk to that point and try to throw the ball into the hoop. The next player from the opposite team then goes and tries to do the same. They can try to get their ball into the hoop or knock out one of the other team’s balls. Each team plays four balls per round. Each ball in the hoop at the end of the round counts as one point. Teams can play to 7 points or however many points they wish.

Berets

For all tournaments and official play berets must be worn, otherwise it is not “Basque”-etball!
