Uus Maailm = New World ( in Estonian)
Uus Maailm makes and publishes physical and analog games. Almost all of our games are free and can be found on this site. The games are sourced from over 15 years of inventing games, teaching game design and organizing game events.
Our games explore the intersection of art, games, and play, and focus on fostering social engagement and creativity. Uus Maailm Games promote the playing of games that emphasize creativity, collaboration, performativity, and community over competition and/or contemporary gaming culture. We make games in the spirit of backyard experimentation- they can be recreated easily without lots of technology or expensive equipment. Our aesthetic is the subtle spectacle; creating alternative game spaces that belong in the everyday.
As the invention of photography freed painting from its representational duty, so too have digital games freed analog games from the burden of propagating our obsolete values, allowing them to blossom into a new renaissance of creative physical play.
